My family and I reside in the South Texas area, and I mostly work out of the Rio Grande Valley. Most of my professional work is spent helping my community and our society understand the impacts AI will have on our lives and the future we are continuously unfolding toward. This page is the long version.

I'm William E. Steele. I've had the pleasure of building a couple of different businesses along my entrepreneurial journey. Some have worked well, others not so well. Along the way I've been lucky enough to build teams across software, sales, marketing, service, and product (particularly ERP, financial, and gov-tech products), worked in industries like international trade, outdoor adventure, restaurant service, and civic media, and cumulatively raised over a hundred million dollars in debt and equity for some of those ventures. These days that experience feeds a small consulting and teaching practice and my writing.

What I do

My time splits a few ways, between professional projects and family. On the consulting and teaching side, I work with businesses, associations, and regional governments to provide AI advisory and intensives. The current programs and applications all live at Curious Builder.

The through-line is the same across teaching, writing, and building: take a technical shift (right now, AI) and figure out what it actually does inside the shape of a real business, a real community, a real life. Not the keynote version. The version where someone has to decide on Tuesday whether to hire a person or ship a prototype.
